Our Story
Born out of a love affair with my mothers’ wardrobe, Australian womenswear label merri (meaning “joyous” “happy”) was born.
Here at merri I wanted to create beautiful clothing with true meaning and soul. Pieces that feel special the moment you put them on. Elegant yet effortless. The kind of pieces you treasure forever, that you will one day pass down to your daughter, and she to hers.
Real heirloom pieces ~ timeless, feminine, made with so much love.
I care deeply about our environment and believe in conscious creation. I work hard to deliver collections that are equal parts beauty and heart and that are a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable future.
You will only ever find your merri pieces handmade from natural fibres such as cotton, linen and silks. You will often see an injection of dead stock and vintage fabrics (that I have lovingly collected over the years) fabrics that may have otherwise ended up in landfill. Every fabric I choose is carefully selected for its reduced impact on our environment and uncompromising beauty.
The production process here at Merri is slow and beautiful. We foster a Made to Order model, choosing this path intentionally because we believe that fashion should be slower, more personal, a deep reverence for our planet and the people who bring each garment to life.
Made to Order isn’t always the quickest path, but it is, without a doubt the most meaningful one. A quiet rebellion against fast fashion and a commitment to something slower, softer and more sustainable.
Merri is made ethically and with so much love by a husband and wife team in the middle of Denpasar, Bali. They work from home alongside their loved ones and are paid fair and well. Something I hold so close to my heart.
